FACT CHECK: No, Mark Wahlberg Did Not Make Statement Claiming 2020 Election Fraud Was Proven

A post shared on X claims actor Mark Wahlberg stated that 2020 election fraud has been “proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt.”

Verdict: False

There is no evidence Wahlberg said this. It appears to be nearly the exact same as a post made by Candace Owens in 2021.

Fact Check:

A former Republican county clerk who denied the results of the 2020 election was sentenced to nine years in prison for tampering with voting machines in Colorado, according to USA Today. Prosecutors said Tina Peters, 68, illegally allowed someone to copy confidential information from a secure voting system and post it online, the outlet reported.

An X post claims Wahlberg made a statement saying that election fraud in 2020 has been “proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.” The post shared an image of Wahlberg in a green shirt.

“DEVELOPING: Hollywood Actor Mark Wahlberg just said: ‘It is now proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden CHEATED in the 2020 election with mail-in ballots’. Repost,” the post reads. “Do you agree with Mark Wahlberg?”

This claim is baseless, however. There are no credible news reports to suggest he said this. (RELATED: Did Mark Wahlberg Call For Teachers To Be Fired?)

The alleged Wahlberg quote is nearly exactly the same as an X post made by conservative commentator Candance Owens in 2021 with a few minor changes in wording and an additional sentence. “It has now been proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris CHEATED in the 2020 election with mail-in ballots,” the post reads. “The Democrats, in collusion with Big Tech and state TV, were the real insurrectionists all along.”
