Fact Check:

Israel has cut off a border crossing between Lebanon and Syria with airstrikes, The Associated Press reported. The attack, which happened at night, stopped tens of thousands of civilians from fleeing Israel’s attack on Hezbollah.

A post shared on Threads purportedly shows video of an airstrike in Yemen that occurred recently. The video shows a building on fire in the distance.

“BREAKING: The Israeli Air Force is striking the Houthi terrorist controlled Hodeida Port in Yemen,” the caption reads. “The Houthis have continuously fired missiles and drones at Israel and Israel will continue to defend its citizens. Houthi #idf #israel.”

The claim is inaccurate. Anadolu, a Turkish outlet, uploaded the video on July 20. The description indicated that the attack was carried out by Israeli forces on an oil storage facility in Al Hudaydah, Yemen.

The Israelis did launch an attack on the Hodeidah port, Al Jazeera reported. The Israeli military announced they carried out several strikes in Yemen on Houthi targets, specifically that they struck the Ras Isa and Hodeidah ports, according to the outlet.

The U.S. aided in attacking 12 Houthi targets, but President Joe Biden now says he wants to ease tensions to “avoid all-out war,” The Guardian reported. (Fact Check: Video Shows 2003 Baghdad Bombing, Not Israeli Attack)

This is not the first time misinformation has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed 6 million were killed in a terrorist attack in Jaffa.
