A video shared on X allegedly shows various clips of the landfall of Hurricane Milton.

Verdict: False

The video is miscaptioned. All clips shown are from various natural disasters that occurred prior to Hurricane Milton.

Fact Check:

Hurricane Milton, predicted to make landfall on Wednesday, is expected to cover a staggering 95 percent of Florida’s west coast beaches, according to New York Post. Experts have warned that the storm could forever alter the coastline via “erosion and overwash,” the outlet reported.

A post shows miscellaneous pieces of footage depicting strong winds and flooding, its caption claiming that they all show Hurricane Milton. The clips show suburbs and cities being effected by the sever weather.

“#HurricanMilton Just landed… PRAY FOR FLORIDA Hurricane Milton,” the caption reads.

This video is miscaptioned, however. These clips show various natural disasters and have all been posted prior to Hurricane Milton. (RELATED: Yes, Floridians Will Be Allowed To Return Home After Hurricanes)

The first video shows a tornado that hit Urbandale, Iowa in July. The description claims trees were downed and buildings were damaged.

Next, the second video shows a tornado that struck Andover, Kansas in May 2022. CBS’ caption reported citizens were injured.

The third video shows a tsunami that formed from Hurricane Idalia in Florida in August 2023. The video shared the clip with heavy rock music over it before sharing other clips of flooding.

The following video shows Typhoon Yagi, which made landfall in China in September. Then, the next video shows footage of flooding from Hurricane Helene, also in September.

The video after that is also from Typhoon Yagi.

The penultimate video was taken during strong rains and winds in São Paulo, Brazil in October 2023. Finally, the last video also depicts Hurricane Helene.
