A post made on X claims the Moon is the same size as the Sun and affects reproductive cycles. The claim is false. The Sun is larger than the Moon. The Sun’s diameter is 864,000 miles and the Moon’s diameter is 2,160 miles, which makes the Sun around 400 times larger than the Moon. (RELATED: Does Elon Musk Believe The Earth Is Flat?)
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) published a journal article that describes the relationship among the lunar cycle and menstruating women. The article describes how scientists studied the association between the lunar cycle, menstrual cycle onset, and subjective sleep quality for 529 women. The article’s conclusion reads, “Overall, there was no association between the menstrual cycle onset and lunar phase.”
The post also claims that the Moon “Rotates like a wheel” and “Gives off cold light.” These claims are also false. The Moon rotates on its axis, orbiting the Earth once every 27.322 days. Scientists that have conducted research to see if the Moon’s light is cooling have not found evidence to support this claim.
