A post shared on X claims a woman purposely walked her XL Bully around Berlin, Germany to scare Muslim refugees.

Verdict: Misleading
The video has been cropped to not include facial expressions and was filmed in Cologne, not Berlin. The original video shows that not all people near the dog appeared terrified.

Fact Check:

A post made on X claims a German woman purposely walked her pit bull around Berlin to scare Muslim refugees. The caption reads, “German girl decides to troll refugees and walks her pit bull in a Muslim neighborhood in Berlin. Dogs are considered ‘haram’ in Islam. Notice how they are all terrified. 😂”

The claim is misleading. The video has been cropped to not include facial expressions. The original video shows that people nearby the dog did not appear terrified. (RELATED: FACT CHECK: Video Shows 2003 Baghdad Bombing, Not Israeli Attack)

The owner of the original video posted a second video of her dog to TikTok with a caption that reads, “Also leute wirklich traurig, dass so ein video zur Hetze gegen egal wen betrieben wird.” Check Your Fact used Google Translate to translate this caption. When translated to English, the caption reads, “So people, it’s really sad that such a video is used to incite hatred against anyone.”

The post also claims the video depicts the woman and her dog walking in Berlin. A location tag on the original video indicates that the woman and her dog were walking around Cologne. The video also matches a Google Maps view of Cologne.

Reuters has also debunked this claim.
