FACT CHECK: No, IDF Chief Herzi Halevi Has Not Been Killed

There is no evidence Halevi has been killed. He recently visited a military base that was hit by a Hezbollah drone attack.

Fact Check:

A Hezbollah drone attack hit an Israeli military base, killing four soldiers and wounding at least 60 people, according to Fox News.

Social media users are sharing claims that Halevi was killed. One user wrote, “Initial reports confirm the assassination of Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi. GOOD may he rot in hell…”

There is no evidence that Halevi has been killed. No credible news outlets have reported that Halevi was killed. In fact, the Times of Israel reported that Halevi visited the base that was recently hit in the drone attack.

“We are at war and an attack on a training base in the rear is serious with painful results. You acted properly in treating and evacuating the wounded and the victims,” Halevi said during the visit. (RELATED: No, Viral Montage Does Not Solely Depict Hurricane Milton)

Joe Truzman, a senior research analyst at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, recently shared a video of Halevi visiting the base.

“The Israeli military’s Chief of the General Staff Herzi Halevi visited the Golani training base that was hit by a Hezbollah drone on Sunday. Hopefully, this will dispel the ridiculous rumors by a few people out there that Halevi was targeted and killed, ” Truzman tweeted.
