Verdict: False

The claim is false. Both the original video of the interview and a transcript show Harris’ comments were about 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump, not Biden.

Fact Check:

Harris’ recent sit-down interview with Fox News host Bret Baier drew in 7.8 million viewers, according to the New York Post, which cited data from Nielsen. Baier has seen a rise in his social media following, including gaining 1,1660 followers on Instagram, Newsweek reported.

The Instagram video, which has received over 2,000 likes as of writing, claims Harris purportedly called Biden “unstable” during a recent Fox News interview.

“When did you first notice that President Biden’s mental faculties appear diminished?” Baier asks Harris at the start of the video. “He’s misguided. You say now he’s–” Baier prepares to ask Harris another question before she jumps in and adds, “unstable.”

“He’s not well, you say he is mentally not stable,” Baier repeats.

“He’s not stable,” Harris agrees.

The claim is false. Both the original video of the interview and a transcript indicate Harris was referring to Trump with her comments, not Biden.

Although Harris’ comments were not about Biden, she did mention him during the interview, however.

“You told many interviewers that Joe Biden was on his game, that ran circles around on his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden’s mental faculties appear diminished?” Baier asked Harris, according to the same video and transcript.

“Joe Biden, I have watched in from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and … experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people,” Harris responded.

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting Harris made the remark in reference to Biden. In fact, the opposite is true. On Oct. 18, PolitiFact debunked the claim. The outlet also cited the original interview video and transcript as showing Harris’s comments were directed at Trump, not Biden. In addition, Harris does not appear to have commented on the claim via her 2024 campaign website or her verified social media accounts. Furthermore, neither Biden nor the White House have publicly addressed the claim.

Check Your Fact has contacted a Harris spokesperson for comment.
