A post shared on X claims musician Taylor Swift “hasn’t donated a penny to help with Hurricane Helene victims.”

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. Swift made a $5 million donation to hurricane relief victims.

Fact Check:

A month later, some victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina are sleeping in tents where their homes formerly stood, according to Fox News. The hurricane claimed the lives of over 250 people across the Southeast, the outlet reported.

An X post claims Swift has not donated to Hurricane Helene. The post includes an image of Swift in a blue gown and large earrings.

The text reads, “Taylor Swift is now worth an estimated $1.3 billion- hasn’t donated a penny to help with Hurricane Helene victims.” (RELATED: Did Taylor Swift Refuse To Perform At Hurricane Relief Event?)

This post is inaccurate, however. Swift donated $5 million to Feeding America to support relief efforts following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, according to AP News. Swift has previously donated to nonprofits after tragedies, such as in 2020 when a tornado hit Tennessee and in February 2024 when a shooting occurred at a Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade, the outlet reported.

The post also claims that Swift’s net worth is $1.3 billion, but it has increased to $1.6 billion at the time of writing, making her the world’s richest female musician, according to an Oct. 8 Forbes article.

This is not the first time misinformation involving Swift has spread online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim that she expressed regret for her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
