FACT CHECK: Contrary To Viral X Post, Dominion Voting Systems Will Operate In Florida

A viral post shared on X claims Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Dominion Voting Systems will not operate in his state.

Dominion Voting Systems will be used in 18 counties in Florida, according to a map of the state published on the Florida Division of Elections’ website. In addition, a spokesperson for Dominion Voting Systems denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact.

Fact Check:

During a recent town hall in Folsom, Pennsylvania, Tesla CEO and owner of X Elon Musk said Dominion voting machines were only used in a few places, including Philadelphia and Maricopa County, Arizona, according to NBC News. Musk connected the machines to alleged efforts to “rig” the election during the same event, the outlet reported.

The X post, which has been viewed over 600,000 times as of writing, claims DeSantis said Dominion Voting Systems will not operate in Florida. “BREAKING: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says Dominion voting systems will NOT operate in the state of Florida,” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads.

The claim is false. Dominion Voting Systems will be used in 18 counties in Florida, including Lee, Palm Beach, Brevard, and Pinellas counties, according to a map of the state published on the Florida Division of Elections’ website. Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find any reference to the claim on DeSantis’ website or his verified social media accounts. (RELATED: Video Shows Jimmy Carter At Birthday Party, Not Early Voting)

In addition, Dominion Voting Systems does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim. Check Your Fact also found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Oct. 22, Lead Stories debunked the claim.

Furthermore, a spokesperson for Dominion Voting Systems denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact.

“Fact: Dominion systems are being used by voters across the State of Florida for the November 2024 election,” the same spokesperson said.

Check Your Fact has also contacted DeSantis’ office and the Florida Division of Elections for comment.
