Verdict: False

A headline included in the post refers to a June 2023 stop Trump made at the Cuban restaurant Versailles in Miami. There is no evidence suggesting Trump failed to pay for customers’ meals during his recent visit to the Pennsylvania McDonald’s restaurant.

Fact Check:

On Oct. 20, Trump visited a McDonald’s restaurant in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, where he worked the fry station and held a news conference at the drive-through window, according to The Associated Press. Trump also served customers, including Nayara Andrejczyk, at the drive-through window, Fox News reported.

The Threads post, which has received over 1,000 likes as of writing, claims Trump left a Pennsylvania McDonald’s restaurant without paying for customers’ meals after he said he would.

“The MAGA McDonald’s franchisee who let Trump use his restaurant for a publicity stunt, was left paying the bill for meals that Trump said he would pay for,” text above a headline about Trump reads. “Trump offers ‘food for everyone’ at restaurant – then leaves without paying,” the headline alleges.

The claim also circulated on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, where it amassed over two million views.

The claim is false. While the headline is authentic and was published by the U.K.-based outlet the Guardian in June 2023, it refers to a stop Trump made at the Cuban restaurant Versailles in Miami. Citing an article from the Miami New Times, the outlet reported that Trump offered “food for everyone” while stopping at Versailles but did not keep that promise.

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting Trump failed to pay for customers’ meals during a recent visit to a Pennsylvania McDonald’s restaurant. In fact, the opposite is true. On Oct. 22, PolitiFact debunked the claim.

Additionally, Trump does not appear to have responded to the claim via his official website, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. (RELATED: Is Donald Trump Barred From Voting In The 2024 Election Due To Felonies?)
