Verdict: False
Obama actually said Trump “does not care that a mob might attack his own vice president, do you think he cares about you?”
Fact Check:
Obama has taken to the campaign trail in recent weeks to support Vice President Kamala Harris and was introduced by rapper Eminem, PBS News reported. Eminem joined Obama at a campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan and recently endorsed Harris for president.
A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purports Obama claims Trump tried to kill Pence. The post shows an image of Obama with a quote of the claim written over it.
The caption reads, “The DonOld ‘tried to kill his own Vice President, do you really think he cares about you?'” The caption tags Obama.
The claim is inaccurate. During a recent campaign stop in Pittsburgh and attacked Trump saying, “does not care that a mob might attack his own vice president, do you think he cares about you?”
The transcript of the speech also does not show that Obama claimed Trump tried to kill Pence. Obama’s statement appears to be in reference to reports that on Jan. 6 some of the rioters chanted “hang Mike Pence,” according to CNBC.
