A viral video shared on X claims 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump purportedly had a stroke during a recent campaign event with a garbage truck.

Verdict: False

The claim is false. There are neither credible news reports nor evidence on Trump’s website, TRUTH Social account, or verified social media accounts to support the claim.

Fact Check:

Recent Marist polls show 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris maintains “a narrow lead” over Trump in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, according to Fox News. Harris leads Trump 50% to 48% in Michigan and Pennsylvania and 51% to 48% in Wisconsin, with all three polls being within the “margin of error,” the outlet reported.

The X video, viewed over one million times as of writing, claims Trump purportedly had a stroke during a recent campaign event with a garbage truck.

“If you have had a family member who has had a stroke you know exactly what this is,” the video’s caption reads. In the video, Trump appears to briefly stumble while struggling to open the door of the garbage truck.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on the former President and 2024 Republican nominee’s official campaign website, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Make A Truth Social Post Saying He Hates Adolf Hitler?)

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Oct. 31, Snopes debunked the claim.

According to the outlet, the claim appears to originally stem from a video shared to YouTube by Vote Blue Network. “Doctors CONFIRM Trump Has STROKE ON GARBAGE TRUCK,” the video’s title reads. However, at no point in the video do doctors confirm Trump had a stroke during his recent campaign event.

In addition, Christo Availis, one of the video’s hosts, “[has] a history of promoting made-up claims,” Snopes indicated.

Trump boarded a garbage truck in Green Bay, Wisconsin, ahead of a campaign rally in the state, according to The Associated Press. The move was a response to President Joe Biden referring to Trump supporters as “garbage” following disparaging remarks from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe about Puerto Rico during Trump’s Oct. 27 campaign rally at Madison Square Garden, the outlet reported.

Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
