An image shared on X allegedly shows a post from X owner Elon Musk saying that he is so confident that former President Donald Trump will win the election that he will give money away if Trump loses.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence Musk made this post.

Fact Check:

Musk’s lawyer has said that winners of Musk’s $1 million a day giveaway are selected based on who may be a good spokesperson for Musk’s political action committee (PAC), according to The Guardian. The giveaway is limited to residents of the seven specific states and Musk’s lawyer claims that winners must serve as spokespeople, the outlet reported.

An image allegedly shows a Musk post made saying he would give his money away if Trump lost the election. The alleged post seems to have been made on Nov. 3 and went on to garner 292,000 likes.

“I am so sure that Donald Trump is going to win that if he loses, I will give away the entirety of my fortune to everyone who can prove they voted. That’s more than $1,000 per expected voter, and that is a PROMISE.”

The post’s caption reads, “100% gonna cry stolen.”

Musk did not make this post, however. It cannot be found on Musk’s X account and there are no credible news reports about him saying this. (RELATED: No, Elon Musk Did Not Endorse Caitlin Clark)

Although he voted for Biden in 2020 and has said he “strongly supported” former President Barack Obama in the 2007 election, Musk has endorsed Trump for the 2024 presidency, according to Newsweek.
