FACT CHECK: Has CBS News Reported ‘Cheating’ In The 2024 Presidential Election?

A viral post shared on Threads claims CBS News reported cheating occurred in the 2024 presidential election.

The claim is false. There is no reference to the claim on CBS News’ website or its verified social media accounts, and a spokesperson for the outlet denied the claim’s validity to PolitiFact.

Fact Check:

President-Elect Donald Trump is set to meet with President Joe Biden in the Oval Office on Wednesday, according to Fox News. The meeting marks Trump’s first time back at the White House in nearly four years, the outlet reported.

The Threads post, which has garnered over 1,000 likes as of writing, claims CBS News reported cheating occurred in the 2024 presidential election.

“CBS [News] is reporting cheating in the election. If the accusations are true. There could be a recount. This will change everything. Let’s cross our fingers!” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on CBS News’ website or its verified social media accounts.

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Nov. 12, PolitiFact debunked the claim. CBS News spokesperson Hugo Rojo denied the claim’s validity to PolitiFact.

“CBS News did not report or say there was cheating in the election,” Rojo explained.

In addition, Rojo denied the validity of a social media post that claimed CBS News had accused Trump of cheating in the 2024 election, according to the same article from PolitiFact. Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States of America on Nov. 5.
