A post with over 275,000 views on X claims that President Joe Biden “wandered” into the Amazon rainforest immediately after giving a speech.

Verdict: Misleading

He walked down a path he was supposed to, which was off-camera. He did not “wander” off.

Fact Check:

President Joe Biden has been the subject of multiple theories regarding his health during his time in office, according to NBC News. Several influences, mainly on X (formerly known as Twitter), have speculated that the president was either dying or already dead, the outlet reported.

A post shared on X shows Biden in Manaus, Brazil, giving a speech where he announced a proclamation on Conservation Day to fight climate change and protect the rainforests. President Biden also announced a pledge of “hundreds of millions” of dollars in a partnership with a Brazilian company to reforest parts of the Amazon. After Biden’s remarks, he closed a book and gave a wave before turning around and walking off. Some social media users have remarked that it looked like he simply “wandered” off, as if it was not planned and he went the wrong way.

This is not true, however. President Biden exited through the same direction he and other attendees entered through. (RELATED:

Unseen in the speech footage was a marked pathway that Biden followed correctly. According to Yahoo News, it was invisible to the viewer because of the fixed camera angle but was visible to those on sight. Other members of staff and the press can be seen in the footage using the same pathway.

President Biden was joined on this trip by officials from the National Institute of Research while on a tour of the Museu da Amazonia. He has urged his successor, President-Elect Donald Trump, to continue his efforts to fight what is perceived as climate change.
