Musk did not post this. The photo is edited from a legitimate post.
Fact Check:
Musk has suggested the possibility of buying MSNBC, CNN reported. The billionaire joked on X about potentially buying the channel after news that its parent company Comcast announced the creation of a new company to host MSNBC and several other channels.
A post shared on Threads purports Musk warned that users that mock him will be banned from X. The post shared a screenshot of the alleged post which appears to have been posted on Nov. 17.
The post reads, “Accounts calling me fat, ‘Elonia’, ‘The First Lady’, saying I can’t jump, or pointing out my hair plugs and jawline gender affirming surgery, will be suspended without warning.”
The caption reads, “Elon Musk, the free speech absolutist! Lol.”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no record of this on his X account.
The alleged post is marked as 5:40am Nov. 17, 2024, Musk did post at this time with a comment related to fertility rates. In response to a post about fertility rates in several countries, Musk suggested people should fear childlessness. “Instead of teaching fear of pregnancy, we should teach fear of childlessness,” he responded. This is not the first time misinformation about Musk has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim he is banning Pride content from X.
