FACT CHECK: Video Claims To Show Aftermath Of Airstrikes On Syrian Rebels

A video shared on X claims to show the aftermath of airstrikes on Syrian rebels.

Verdict: False

The original video appears to be have taken in 2021. It allegedly shows Hezbollah being hit by Israeli attacks.

Fact Check:

Syrian rebels have taken a large swathe of territory from Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad in northern Syria, including the city of Aleppo, according to NPR.

Social media users are claiming to show Syrian rebels after they were hit by airstrikes, presumably from Syrian regime or Russian forces. (RELATED: Photo Shows Leonardo DiCaprio With His Niece, Not Greta Thunberg)

“Urgent now…God is Great Extermination of hundreds of terrorists in Idlib Warplanes destroyed 3 columns of terrorist organizations consisting of dozens of vehicles and vehicles loaded with ammunition, equipment and terrorist elements in the eastern Idlib countryside, which led to the complete destruction of the columns,” reads one user’s post. 

This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from March 2021. The person who posted it self-describes themselves as an “independent journalist” and said that it was an Israeli attack.

“#Hezbollah is examining live accurate ballistic #missile fire in real conditions in northern #Syria. Israel is taking care to destroy precision kits even as they make their way from #Iran to Lebanon and pass through the lands of Iraq and Syria,” reads the tweet.

This video is from 2021 or before. We rate the original claim false.
