Verdict: False
The Amazon workers’ demands are for increased wages, improved benefits and safer work conditions, according to a press release.
Fact Check:
Thousands of workers from Amazon initiated a strike just before Christmas to demand things like better wages and benefits, according to Forbes. The strike included almost 10,000 employees and sought to curb what one strike representative called Amazon’s “insatiable greed,” the outlet reported.
A Threads post claims that Amazon delivery drivers are striking in relation to Bezos allegedly not paying taxes. The post received over 10,000 likes and over 400 reposts.
“Amazon delivery drivers have gone on strike. They say the strike won’t end until Jeff Bezos starts paying taxes,” the post reads.
This post is inaccurate, however. A press release from Teamsters union, which the Amazon workers are affiliated with, listed the demands as increased wages, improved benefits and safer work conditions. This is also corroborated by an article from AP News. A Teamsters spokesperson in an email directed Check Your Fact to the Teamster news page, which includes press releases such as this one.
The Teamsters union made a Dec. 23 X post listing the same demands. (RELATED: No, Amazon Has Not Sold Over 100,000 Luigi Beanies Following Luigi Mangione’s Arrest)

It is true that Bezos has a record of tax avoidance according to data obtained by ProPublica. The data from the Internal Revenue Service in 2021 shows that Bezos didn’t pay any federal income taxes in the years of 2007 and 2011. Though this is not listed as a demand of the strikers on the previously mentioned sources.
