Verdict: False
The claim stems from a satire outlet.
Fact Check:
Judge Juan Merchan has denied President-elect Donald Trump’s request to halt the sentencing in the Bragg case, but Trump’s attorney plans to appeal the decision, USA Today reported. Trump is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing, but Blanche further argued that the Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity halts any criminal cases against Trump.
A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleges that Engoron was executed. The post shared a photo of Engoron that includes text on it making the claim.
The post reads, “Deep State Judge Arthur F. Engoron Hanged at GITMO.”
The claim is inaccurate. The claim stems from a satirical news outlet called Real Raw News. The article offers no actual sources or news reports that indicate this occurred. (RELATED: Claim That Robot Dog Mauled Marine At Mar-A-Lago Is Satire)
The “About Us” section of the website features a disclaimer that reads, “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire.”
Check Your Fact has debunked claims stemming from this outlet before. Claims of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and New York Judge Juan Merchan being executed also stemmed from the outlet.
Engoron previously found Trump liable for fraud and ordered him to pay $355 million in penalties, according to Reuters. More recently, Engoron blocked testimony called by Trump’s team, in part because of potential conflict of interest, Good Morning America reported.
This is not the first time a satire post has been shared online as true. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Dick Cheney died in Dec. 2024.
