Social media users are claiming to show a recent newspaper cover of The Times about the grooming gangs. One user wrote, “The Times front page this morning.”
This front page, though, is from 2011. Through a keyword search, Check Your Fact found that the newspaper is from 2011. The article was shared on The Times’ website in January 2011.
Furthermore, the actual image shows that the date on the newspaper was in January 2011. It does not state it is from January 2025. Check Your Fact reviewed the Times website and did not find any reporting matching the one in the image, further showing that the image is old.
The Times did report that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said those who “are cheerleading Tommy Robinson” were spreading “lies” about the grooming gangs.
“Those that are spreading lies and misinformation as far and as wide as possible are not interested in victims, they’re interested in themselves,” Starmer said, per the Times. He further said,” “This isn’t about America or Musk. I’m talking about our politics. I’m talking about the responsibility that our politicians have in calling this out for what it is and distancing themselves and condemning it.”
