Verdict: False

Other angles of the event show Trump did put his hand on his chest.

Fact Check:

Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, The New York Post reported. The former first lady also skipped the funeral for former President Jimmy Carter, where Trump sat next to former President Barack Obama.

A post shared on Facebook purports Trump did not put his hand over his heart at the funeral. The video shows everyone in attendance with their hands over their hands, while it appears Trump’s is not.

The text overlay reads, “Trump can’t be bothered to put his small hand over his non-existent heart.”

The caption says, “He has no respect for ANYONE.”

The claim is inaccurate. Other images published by the Associated Press show that Trump did place his hand over his heart. It is possible that in this specific angle, Douglass Emhoff, the second gentleman of the United States, is blocking the view of Trump’s hand.

The video from C-SPAN showed a full video of the procession. (RELATED: No, Trump Is Not The First President To ‘Avoid An Inauguration’)

This is not the first time a false claim about Trump has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Trump made a post stating he is “the guy in charge.”
