A video shared on X claims to show President Donald Trump signing an executive order removing capital gains tax on crypto.

Verdict: False

It shows Trump signing an executive order about the cartels. He has not signed an executive order removing the capital gains tax on cryptocurrency.

Fact Check:

Trump signed several executive orders on his first day in office, including orders that reversed several of former President Biden’s executive actions, according to The Associated Press.

Social media users are claiming that Trump signed an executive order removing capital gains taxes on cryptocurrency. One user wrote, “#BREAKING: President Trump has just signed an executive order removing ALL capital gains tax on US based cryptocurrency’sThis is HUGE.”

This claim is false. The original video shows that Trump was signing an executive order designating foreign Mexican cartels as terrorist groups.

“President Trump signs an Executive Order designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations,” reads the tweet. (RELATED: Did Pope Francis Say That Jesus Was Born During A Census Taken By King David?)

Check Your Fact reviewed the list of executive actions taken by Trump. None of them mention crypto. Bloomberg reported that crypto was ignored by Trump during his first day back in the presidency.
