A video shared on Facebook claims German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is going to sue the US for his burnt down house in Los Angeles.

“Germany 👀 Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to sue the US because his house burned down‼️Olaf Scholz had a house in Los Angeles. No one in Germany knew that he had a house there worth 90 million USD. Now all of Germany is wondering where the politician got so much money.When did he buy the house?” one user posted.

This claim is false. There is no evidence for this claim as no media outlets have reported on this claim. The German government has not claimed Scholz would attempt to sue the U.S. government.

Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from Jan. 11 and is from a TikTok account that describes itself as satire.

A German government spokesperson told Correctiv the claim was false. Logically Facts also debunked this claim.
