Verdict: False

A spokesperson for Ring denied the claim to PolitiFact via email. The claim is not referenced on Ring or ICE’s respective websites or verified social media accounts.

Fact Check:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is looking to “deputize” Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents to assist with immigration enforcement efforts, according to Fox News. DHS reportedly sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to make the request, the outlet indicated.

The screenshot, which has received over 3,000 likes as of writing, claims the Ring doorbell app is purportedly alerting users about ICE raids. “Why is @ring, an @amazon company alerting people about ice raids?” the text of the X post shared via Instagram reads.

The screenshot also features what appears to be a notification from the Ring doorbell app alerting a user that ICE is nearby. “Neighborhood Alert near Phoenix – ICE-immigration is near be aware,” the text of the purported notification reads.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find a statement shared on Ring’s website or its verified social media accounts referencing the claim. Likewise, ICE does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim. (RELATED: No, China Did Not Raise Tariffs On US By 75%)

In addition, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Feb. 10, PolitiFact debunked the claim. Emma Daniels, a spokesperson for Ring, denied the claim’s validity in an email to PolitiFact, the outlet reported.

“Ring is not notifying customers about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity,” Daniels said. “Ring customers who have Neighbors App notifications enabled may be notified about posts authored by other Neighbors App users in their location,” she explained, according to the outlet.

Check Your Fact has also contacted ICE for comment.
