Verdict: False

Check Your Fact performed an advanced search of Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk and did not find any reference to the purported remark. There is no other evidence to support the claim.

Fact Check:

Twenty-one federal technology workers resigned on Feb. 25 in protest of DOGE, according to USA Today. The employees include computer engineers, designers, and product managers, the outlet reported.

The Threads image, viewed over 1,000 times as of writing, claims to show an X post from Musk referring to anti-DOGE protesters as “spoiled crybabies.”

“Spoiled crybabies across the country are protesting against America’s golden age. Brats like them should go to prison,” the purported X post attributed to Musk reads. “So people who PEACEFULLY protest should go to prison? This isn’t a golden age, it’s a ‘Gilded Age.’ Elon Musk is a deplorable person. 50501,” the post’s caption follows.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact performed an advanced search of Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk and did not find any reference to the purported remark. The purported remark also has not been referenced on DOGE’s website or its verified X account @DOGE. President Donald Trump does not appear to have commented on the purported remark, either.

Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. In fact, the opposite is true. On Feb. 26, USA Today debunked the claim, labeling the image as “fabricated.” According to the outlet, the number “50501” included in the post’s caption refers to the 50501 movement “that started on social media with the idea of staging 50 protests in 50 states in one day.”

Fired federal workers recently gathered to protest DOGE on Capitol Hill, according to Spectrum News 1. Anti-DOGE protesters in Florida, Minnesota, and Nevada have also gathered at their state capitols. (RELATED: No, DOGE Did Not Discover Louisiana Man With 34 Different Social Security Numbers)
