FACT CHECK: Claim That DOGE Has Scheduled Congressional Audits For Warren, Raskin, And Crockett Is Satire

A post shared on Facebook claims the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has purportedly scheduled congressional audits of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).

Verdict: False

The claim is false and originally stems from a Feb. 24 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page.

Fact Check:

Trump’s March 4 remarks before a joint session of Congress are being used as “new evidence” in a new court filing challenging DOGE, according to The Hill. DOGE is facing over two dozen lawsuits, including one that claims the department is subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims DOGE has purportedly scheduled congressional audits of Warren, Raskin, and Crockett.

“DOGE Congressional Audits Scheduled for This Week: Elizabeth Warren: Net worth has increased by $105 million in 8 years, Jamie Raskin: Entered Congress $40K in debt, now has a $36 million stock portfolio, Jasmine Crockett: Lived on welfare before Congress, now owns a $25 million Manhattan penthouse,” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads.

The claim is false and originally stems from a Feb. 24 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The page describes itself as “a subsidiary of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating, “nothing on this page is real.” The original post has received over 4,000 likes as of writing.

Likewise, the claim is not referenced on DOGE’s website or its verified X account @DOGE. DOGE lead Elon Musk does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via his verified X account @elonmusk. Warren, Raskin, and Crockett have not responded to the claim, either.

In addition, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On March 2, Lead Stories debunked the claim, tracing its origin to the same satirical Facebook page. (RELATED: No, Viral X Image Does Not Show Authentic BBC Headline About Elon Musk)

According to OpenSecrets, Warren had an estimated net worth of $7,977,513 in 2018, while Raskin had an estimated net worth of $4,162,036 for the same year. Crockett has a net worth between $46,997 and $29,999, according to Lead Stories, who cited her 2022 congressional financial disclosures. Quiver Quantitative places Crockett’s current estimated net worth at $14,000, however.

Check Your Fact has contacted Warren, Raskin, and Crockett’s offices for comment.
