FACT CHECK: Claim That Pam Bondi Has Petitioned The Courts To Vacate Anthony Fauciā€™s Pardon Is Satire

An image shared on Facebook claims Attorney General Pam Bondi has purportedly petitioned the courts to vacate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s “illegal pardon.”

Verdict: False

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 4 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page.

Fact Check:

Actor Woody Harrelson said “Fauci did some extraordinarily evil sh-t” during a recent interview with Joe Rogan, according to the New York Post. Harrelson made the comment in reference to Fauci’s handling of both the 1980s AIDS crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlet reported.

The Facebook image, which features Fauci, claims Bondi has purportedly petitioned the courts to vacate his “illegal pardon.”

“AG Pam Bondi Has Petitioned the Courts to Vacate Anthony Fauci’s Illegal Pardon,” text superimposed on the image reads. “‘It’s time for him to face justice for his crimes,'” a second set of text follows.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 4 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook page describes itself as “the flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating that “nothing on this page is real.” The original post has received over 600 likes as of writing.

Likewise, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) does not appear to have issued a press release referencing the claim. Bondi has not publicly addressed the claim via her personal or government X accounts. President Donald Trump has not commented on the claim, either.

In addition, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. If Bondi had actually petitioned the courts to vacate Fauci’s pardon, multiple media outlets would’ve covered it, yet none have. Prior to leaving office, former President Joe Biden pardoned Fauci for “any offenses against the U.S.” he “may have committed or taken part in” beginning on Jan. 1, 2014.

Check Your Fact has contacted the DOJ for comment.
