President Donald Trump suggested he would pay Williams and Wilmore overtime for their extended stay in space, according to The Hill. Trump said he would pay the two astronauts “out of [his] own pocket” while responding to a question about them receiving overtime in the Oval Office, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims Musk is purportedly paying Williams and Wilmore’s salaries for a “full year.”

“Elon Musk is paying the salaries of the rescued astronauts for a full year,” the post begins. “‘They’ve earned a nice long vacation,'” it continues. The post does not provide a source to support its claim.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 20 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook post describes itself as “the flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating that “nothing on this page is real.” The original post features a recent article from ALLOD subsidiary, “The Dunning-Kruger Times,” which repeats the claim.

Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find any reference to the claim on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s website or its verified social media accounts. Musk also does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via his verified X account @elonmusk.
