A viral post shared on Facebook claims Elon Musk purportedly said, “Tesla is doomed.”

Verdict: False

Musk has not referenced the claim on his verified X account @elonmusk, and there is no other evidence to support the claim.

Fact Check:

President Donald Trump said Musk did not provide advice on his 25% tariffs on cars made outside of the U.S., according to CNBC. Trump said Musk “may have a conflict” on the matter, as he is the CEO of Tesla, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post, which has received 18,000 likes as of writing, claims Musk purportedly said, “Tesla is doomed.”

“Elon Musk Drops Shocking Bombshell About Tesla’s Future—’We’re Doomed, We Can’t Survive,’ He Warns, Sparking Panic Among Investors and Fueling Wild Rumors About a Secret Collapse Behind the Scenes,” the post reads.

The post also links to a March 21 “Hot News Now” article that repeats the claim. The article claims factors, including declining sales, production issues, and stock volatility, are playing a role in Tesla’s purported struggles.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact performed an advanced search of Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk and did not find any reference to the claim. Tesla also does not appear to have issued a press release or a social media statement responding to the claim.

In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. If Musk had made the comment about Tesla, multiple media outlets would’ve reported it, yet none have. Actually, the opposite is true. On March 26, PolitiFact debunked the claim. (RELATED: Claim That Over 100 USAID Workers Have Been Arrested For Treason Is Satire)

This is not the first time a false claim about Musk has circulated online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a post shared on Facebook that claimed Musk had purportedly launched a public campaign to cancel the ABC daytime talk show, “The View.”
