The video is miscaptioned. It was taken in 2020, not 2023.

Fact Check:

President Joe Biden has been criticized for unfreezing $6 million in Iranian funds in exchange for wrongfully detained American citizens in September, according to CBS News. Some have alleged that this prisoner swap helped fuel the recent terrorist attack on Israel, the outlet reported.

An Instagram video appears to show CNN footage of several men chanting and waving their fists. A chyron reads, “Lawmakers chant ‘Death to America’ in Iranian Parliament.” Text overlaid on the video reads, “Iran Law Makers chant death to America… Didn’t Joe Biden just give Iran $6 BILLION ? Joe Biden’s 2nd war while in office… God Speed Israel!”

The video was posted to YouTube by CNN in on Jan. 5, 2020. The United States had killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport a few days prior, AP News reported. In response, about 290 Iranian lawmakers gathered during an emergency parliament session and chanted “death to America,” New York Post reported.  (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Taliban Moving Armored Vehicles To Iran Border)

This is not the first time a miscaptioned video has gone viral. Check Your Fact recently debunked a video claiming to show an Israeli Air base in Gaza being evacuated.
