FACT CHECK: Video Showing U.S. Aircraft Predates Hamas Conflict

A video shared on X claims to show U.S. aircraft arriving to provide munitions for Israel.

Verdict: Misleading

The clips in the video are old.

Fact Check:

The U.S. is providing Israel with munitions as the latter country continues its campaign against Hamas, the terrorist organization that controls the Gaza Strip, after the group invaded southern Israel and killed over 1,000 Israelis, according to CNN.

Social media users are sharing videos claiming to show U.S. aircraft arriving in Israel to provide munitions for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). (RELATED: Video Of Pakistani Air Force Is Old)

The clips, however, are old. The first clip is from a video shared to YouTube in October 2019, four years before the Hamas attack on Israel. The video’s description reads, “A U.S. Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy transport plane takes-off from Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California on October 4, 2019. Film Credits: U.S. Marine Corps Video by Lance Cpl. Andrew Cortez, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.”

The second clip is from a May 2023 video. The video was not taken during the recent fighting. The third clip is from the October 2019 video referenced above. The text of the tweet does reference recent reporting from the Associated Press.

This is not the first piece of misinformation surrounding the Israeli-Hamas conflict that has been shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim that Qatar threatened to stop gas supplies to the world if the bombing in Gaza does not stop.
