A post shared on social media purportedly shows a woman claiming that her son identifies as a cat and she is not allowed to take him to the veterinarian.

Verdict: False

The video is satire.

Fact Check:

An appeals court ruled in favor of Indiana’s ban on transition surgery for minors in the state, according to The Hill. The decision was released Tuesday and supporters of the bill called the ruling “heartbreaking.”

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purports that a woman is trying to get her son seen by a vet due to her son identifying as a cat. The video shows a woman filming herself with a comment asking her if she takes her son to the vet in the top left of the screen.

She says, “The veterinarian told me that because he has human anatomy that he does not know how to work on him or diagnose him with anything and he legally cannot so and while I do think that is a form of discrimination because you know my son if he says he’s a cat he is a cat.”

The caption reads, “This lady identifies as an idiot. Her son identifies as a cat and she’s upset that the Vet won’t treat him.”

The claim is inaccurate. The video stems from a satirical TikTok account. The account’s bio has the satire label. The account features several similar videos. The video itself also has a satire label on the original post. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Chinese Communist Party Destroying Mosque)
