A video shared on Facebook claims to show Dutch firefighters joining the ongoing farmer protests in the Netherlands.

Verdict: False

The video shows Polish firefighters rallying for a Polish girl’s medical treatment. It is not related to the current protests in the Netherlands.

Fact Check:

Dutch farmers have been protesting a proposed climate rule from the Dutch government that would curb nitrogen emissions from the agricultural sector, according to Fox News. Some experts the outlet spoke to believe the protests could be the beginning of a global movement against climate policy.

One video shared on Facebook claims a group of firefighters has joined the protest. It shows dozens of fire trucks grouped together while flashing their lights and honking their horns. “#firefighters have joined the #farmers #protest#holland,” reads the post’s caption.

However, the video’s caption is inaccurate. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the original video was shared on TikTok in May 2022, months before the current protests in the Netherlands began. The video’s caption is in Polish, not Dutch, and gives no indication that it is related to the current farmer protests.

The Lifeguard Night Ride for Maja was a fundraiser organized by Polish first responders to raise funds for Maja, a five-year-old girl suffering from cerebral palsy, according to the Polish outlet Krosno 24. The ride went from Jedlicze to other parts of Poland, the outlet reported.
