An image shared on Facebook claims to show someone holding a “No” sign while posing with Pennsylvania Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Verdict: False

The image has been digitally altered. A spokesperson for Oz’s campaign confirmed the photo is doctored.

Fact Check:

Oz is currently trailing behind Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman in polling, according to FiveThirtyEight. Oz and Fetterman have repeatedly sparred on social media, mocking each other political stances and gaffes, Roll Call reported.

The Facebook image features a screen-grab of a tweet allegedly showing a woman holding an Oz campaign sign on its side, intentionally spelling out “No.”  The tweet in question has over 10,000 retweets and 140,000 likes as of publishing time.

The image in the tweet is digitally altered. The original image appears on Oz’s social media accounts showing a sign reading “Dr Oz” and “U.S. Senate.” (RELATED: Is Dr. Oz Not Registered To Vote In Pennsylvania?)

“From the dinner table to the Capitol Diner here in Harrisburg, Pennsylvanians are ready for new leadership. I’ll fight for PA small businesses in the U.S. Senate,” his tweet reads.

“I can confirm that the circulating image, with the Oz sign held vertically, is photoshopped and inauthentic,” Brittany Yannick, an Oz campaign spokesperson, confirmed to Check Your Fact in an email. “The original photo was taken by my colleague at Capitol Diner in Harrisburg on August 12.”

Social media users have spread misinformation around the Pennsylvania Senate race. Check Your Fact recently debunked a video claiming to show Oz kissing former President Donald Trump’s Hollywood star.
