A video shared on Facebook purports the German Army is planning to launch an offensive campaign against Russia.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence the Germans are preparing an offensive against Russia.

Fact Check:

Germany has pledged more aid to Ukraine with weapons, such as self-propelled artillery and advanced rocket systems, while under pressure to justify its reluctance to send other weapons to the country, according to Defense News. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has so far resisted Ukrainian calls for German-made tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) despite increasing pressure at home from coalition partners, Politico reported.

The video, viewed more than 82,000 times, claims the “Germany Army” is preparing for an offensive against Russia. The video calls that claim “bad news for Putin” as the country continues to struggle to gain a strong foothold in Ukraine. (RELATED: Did Ukraine Destroy 450 Russian ‘Armored’ Ships?)

However, there is no evidence indicating Germany is planning to attack Russia. If the German government were planning an offensive, media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. The German Federal Ministry of Defense has not declared a counter-offensive against Russia in any capacity.

The German Federal Foreign Office has not released any statements about a potential offensive into Russia. The Russian government has also not released any statements about a possible German offensive. Germany has provided Ukraine with an advanced air defense system and is planning on delivering several more, according to DW.
