A video shared on Facebook claims Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy purportedly released “classified documents exposing” Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray.

Kennedy recently criticized Biden during a speech to business leaders in New Orleans earlier in October, according to Nola.com. The FBI also drew some criticism and concern after raiding the home of a former ABC News producer under the impression he had classified documents on his laptop, Rolling Stone reported.

The Facebook video, viewed 69,000 times, claims Kennedy purportedly released classified documents that expose Wray’s alleged ties to President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. “‘You Had A Deal With Hunter!’ – Sen John Kennedy 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 Documents 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 FBI Chief,” the video’s caption reads.

The video’s caption is inaccurate. There are no credible news reports to support the claim. Likewise, the claim is not mentioned on the FBI or Kennedy’s verified social media pages or their respective websites.

The over 13-minute video features two clips of Wray being questioned by Kennedy and Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton, and neither of them repeats the purported claim.

Both clips stem from an August 2022 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing focused on FBI oversight. In the first clip, Kennedy questions Wray about former FBI agent Timothy Thibault, including his alleged involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation. In the second clip, Cotton questions Wray on the FBI’s role in responding to protests that occurred outside the homes of sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices following a leaked draft decision in the case of Dobbs V.
