This image is miscaptioned. The photo was actually taken in Poland in July 2021 and depicts a Romanian Gepard in Poland.

Israel offered Oct. 19 to assist Ukraine with the development of a system that alerts civilians of air attacks, according to Reuters. Ukraine’s ambassador instead requested a system that would shoot down the drones, though Israel has been reluctant to deliver such systems or weapons to the region, the outlet reported.
The Facebook image allegedly shows a German Gepard firing at the sky in Ukraine, claiming the photo shows the first confirmed image of the weapon in action in the region.
“The first visual confirmation of the combat use of German “Gepard” in Ukraine,” its caption reads. A Gepard is a German anti-aircraft tank that can be deployed against both ground and air targets, according to Business Insider. The post was also shared on Twitter, where it amassed over 400 retweets.

Ukraine has received multiple Gepard anti-aircraft guns for service against Russia, according to Forbes. The German government has promised approximately 50 Gepard guns as of Sept. 26, with 30 of those being delivered, the outlet reported.
