Verdict: False

This image is digitally altered. The unedited version, first posted by Daily Mail in June 2019, depicting Obama wearing a plain t-shirt.

Fact Check:

President Joe Biden and Obama will hold rally in Philadelphia on Saturday supporting Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman and gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro, according to The Hill. A recent poll suggests that Democrats hold a “slight edge” over Republicans in key senate races the nearing 2022 midterm election, The New York Times reported.

The Facebook image allegedly shows Obama wearing a t-shirt that reads “STRAIGHT BLUE THE ONLY WAY 2022.” The image was also shared on Twitter where it garnered over 3,400 retweets.

“Love this man. Check out President Obama’s t-shirt,” its caption reads. (RELATED: Did Barack Obama Say ‘I Walk With My Husband Michael And Hold Hands’?)

This image is digitally altered. A reverse image search found the unedited image originated from a Daily Mail article in June 2019. The photo shows Obama wearing a plain shirt without any text on it. Another angle of Obama that same day, wearing the same outfit, was published by Page Six.

There are no credible news reports suggesting Obama wearing the alleged shirt. Likewise, the shirt does not appear in any of his social media posts.

This is not the first time misinformation has spread involving a digitally altered shirt. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that an image showed actor Tom Hanks wearing a shirt that said “Keep America Trumpless.”
