A photo shared on Facebook shows an article in the style of the New York Post reporting the Biden administration plans to outlaw footage of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Verdict: False

This image is digitally fabricated. It cannot be found through a search of New York Post’s website or verified social media accounts.

Fact Check:

Classified documents have allegedly been found at the Penn Biden Center and at his private residence in Wilmington, Delaware, according to Associated Press. Robert Hur, a former Trump-nominated US attorney, has been named as special counsel in the investigation by Attorney General Merrick Garland, CNN reported.

A Facebook post shows an article in the style the New York Post reporting on legislation forbidding taking photos or videos of illegal immigrants. The post features a photo of Biden alongside a photo of a man climbing the border wall.

“Biden administration is asking House leaders to draft legislation forbidding private citizens and media outlets from filming or photographing illegal aliens as they enter from Mexico,” the alleged headline reads. “Stating that ‘They have rights above what our normal citizens require.'”

The article is satire. The banner shown on the alleged screenshot reads “New Fork Post,” and the authors are listed as “Veterans Take Back” and “Political Goof.” The purported article does not appear through a keyword search of the New York Post’s website, nor does it appear on any of the outlet’s verified social media accounts.

Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to corroborate the claim made in the image. A recent settlement in June 2022 reaffirmed the Customs and Border Patrol could not interfere with any recordings of outdoor or publicly accessible land port areas, according to The San Diego Tribune.

The Biden administration also reportedly introduced a new policy to crack down on migrants who do not utilize legal pathways to citizenship, according to Politico. (RELATED: Were Illegal Immigrants Who Voted Democrat Unlawfully Given U.S. Citizenship?)
