An image shared on Facebook allegedly shows President Joe Biden eating an ice cream cone in front of a shop in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Verdict: False

The photo is digitally altered.  The original photo was posted online by Reuters Pictures in May 2021 with a different background.

Fact Check:

Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv in an unexpected trip Feb. 20 to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of the country, according to BBC. Biden is also allegedly readying a new $2 billion Ukraine aid package over concerns of a potential Russian offensive in the coming days, Forbes reported.

A Facebook photo allegedly shows a picture of Biden eating an ice cream cone during his recent trip to Kyiv. Biden can be seen in the photo wearing a black suit with an American flag pin. “Dark Brandon Enjoys an ice cream cone in Kyiv…” the Facebook post’s caption reads.

This image was photoshopped, however. The unedited photo was published by Reuters in May 2021 and shows an out-of-focus background with stoplights. The caption indicates that the photo was taken in Cleveland, Ohio during a visit by Biden.

The background was taken from a 2017 picture on Foursquare showing a fast food restaurant in Kyiv. (RELATED: Does This Video Show A Large Group Of Birds Flying Over Kyiv?)

Check Your Fact has reached out to the White House for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.

This is not the first time misinformation has spread involving Biden. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that Biden said “this shit will turn your pacemaker off” along with other profanities during a speech.
