FACT CHECK: Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Jack Smith Only Targets Republicans
A post shared on social media from Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene saying that special council Jack Smith only prosecutes Republicans.
Jack Smith is a lousy attorney.
His career is filled with mistrials, overturned cases, and judicial rebukes.
He only targets Republicans because he’s a weak little bitch for the Democrats.

The claim is inaccurate. Smith has prosecuted many cases including Democrats.
Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik turned over thousands of pages of records to special council Jack Smith’s federal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, CBS News.
The Twitter post from Greene claims that Smith, who is on the Trump case, is a bad attorney who only prosecutes Repbulican party memebers. The tweet was made on July 18 and has recived over one million views.
The post reads, “Jack Smith is a lousy attorney. His career is filled with mistrials, overturned cases, and judicial rebukes. He only targets Republicans because he’s a weak little bitch for the Democrats.”
The claim that Smith only prosecutes Republicans is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that reports that Smith only targets Republicans. Smith has had an extensive career and focused on several types of cases. Smith served as chief of the Justice Department’s public integrity section, according to NBC News.
During his tenure, several prominent Democrats were prosecuted. Democrat Presidential candidate John Edwards was indicted by a federal grand jury and prosecuted on allegations of campaign finance fraud in 2011. Edwards allegedly conspiraed to violate the federal campaign finance laws and for making false statements to the Federal Election Commission, a press release from the office stated at the time.
Also, in 2015 Democrat Senator Robert Menendez was indicted for allegedly accepting bribes from Salomon Melgen, a Florida ophthalmologist to use his position in the senate to financially benefit Melgen. (RELATED: Were There 110,000 Overdose Deaths In 2022?)
