Social media users have been sharing a video claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin has admitted that the Crimea Bridge has been completely destroyed. One video’s caption reads, “It’s All Over! Putin Admitted That Crimean Bridge Has Been Completely Destroyed. Isolated Russians!”

There is no evidence, however, that the bridge has been destroyed. If the bridge had been destroyed, media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence stated on Aug. 22 that Russia was planning on flooding six ferries in order to protect the bridge from threats, according to Ukrainska Pravda. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a non-partisan think tank that publishes daily assessments of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, reported Aug. 27 that a Russian official said the bridge is currently undergoing repairs.

“Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated on August 25 that the Kerch Strait Bridge should open completely by November 1. Khusnullin said in an interview with Kremlin newswire TASS that Russian authorities will finish the first stage of repairs to the Kerch Strait Bridge on September 15 and then will close the currently open section of the bridge for repairs… Khusnullin said that Russian authorities plan to finish the final restorations by November 1,” the ISW reported.

Ukraine has attacked the bridge before. Ukrainian security services, the SBU, attacked the bridge with an experimental naval drone on July 17, which caused damage to the bridge, according to CNN.
