A post shared on Facebook alleges Cortez called for The US to print money to pay its $34 trillion debt. The caption reads, “If AOC’s princely &32 trillion to pay off the national debt passes, our dollar will be devalued to who knows what, then the cost of living would skyrocket even more!”
The caption is inaccurate. The original post was from a parody twitter account called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (Parody) that posted the claim saying, “We should just print the 34 trillion dollars and pay off our national debt.” The account’s bio also reiterates that it is a parody account.
