A post shared on social media purported that the White House announced there would be two intermissions during The State of the Union Address.

Verdict: False

The claim was meant as satire.

Fact Check:

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump both officially clinched the nominations from their party,  The New York Times reported. The outlet reported Trump and Biden were able to receive the delegates necessary to win their respective primaries.

A post shared on X by former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer stated on the day of the State of the Union that there would be two breaks during the address. The post received more than 3 million views.

The post reads, “White House announces there will be 2 ‘intermissions’ during tonight’s State of the Union.”

The claim is inaccurate. The transcript shows no intermission during the speech. There was no announcement found of the White House press releases. The full address on C-SPAN shows no intermissions during Biden’s speech.

An X user asked if this was a joke to which Spice responded “Joke right now. But I won’t put it past them.” (RELATED: Fact Checking Biden’s Recent Claims About Wage Growth, Inflation)
