Social media users have been claiming that BlackRock asked Ukraine not to bury their dead soldiers on land owned by the company.

There is no evidence for this claim. If this had happened, media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. A wider internet search also did not yield any results for this claim.

Ukrainian law prevents foreigners and foreign companies from owning arable land, according to Radio Free Asia. While Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy has met with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink about raising funds, there is no evidence the company bought Ukrainian land.

BlackRock and Ukraine signed an agreement in 2023 that has the company providing the wartorn country with support services to the Ukrainian Development Fund, according to Radio Free Asia. A BlackRock spokesperson told AFP Fact Check that “BlackRock Inc. does not own any land in Ukraine.”
