A post shared on X claims to show Tel Aviv, Israel on fire after being hit by Houthi drones.

Verdict: False

The video is from June 2022. It has nothing to do with the current Houthi-Israeli conflict.

Fact Check:

The Houthis claimed to have targeted Tel Aviv with long-range drones, according to the Times of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have shot down a drone while another crashed into an open area, per the outlet.

Social media users are sharing a video of buses on fire, claiming it shows Tel Aviv after Houthi drones hit the city. One user wrote, “Tel Aviv on fire after Yemeni suicide drones have successfully hit their targets.”

This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from June 2022 and shows buses on fire in Safed. The fires were not caused by a Houthi drone strike, per Al Jazeera’s video description of the incident.

“The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that 18 passenger buses caught fire as a result of a fire that broke out early this morning in the parking lot of the central station in the city of Safed in the occupied Galilee. Video clips published by local media showed buses designated for transporting passengers being charred, while the broadcasting authority announced that the circumstances of the fire were being examined,” reads the video description.

The fire appeared to have been caused by an arson attack, according to the Times of Israel. Reuters also debunked this claim. (RELATED: FACT CHECK: Did Iran Destroy 20 Israeli F-35 Aircraft?)
