This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from Sevastopol, which has been occupied by Russia since 2014. It shows a Russian naval officer being killed by a car bomb in November 2024, according to the Daily Mail.

“Moment Russian Naval officer Valery Trankovsky is killed in car bomb assassination in Crimea. Ukraine has claimed the chief of staff of the 41st Missile Brigade of the Russian navy’s Black Sea fleet ordered hits on civilian targets,” reads part of the video description.

Reuters reported that two suspects were arrested by Russia for being behind the bombing. One suspect was a 47 year old man who is believed to have been the one who planted the bomb. and the other is a 37 year old woman who did surveillance on Trankovsky.

NewsMeter also debunked this claim.
