FACT CHECK: No, LAFD Chief Has Not Been Fired As Of Jan. 17
A post shared on X claims the Los Angeles Fire Department chief Kristin Crowley has been fired.
Karen Bass fired LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley just hours after Crowley said city leadership “failed” the fire department.
This is not enough.
Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom MUST resign.
Personally, I feel they should both be prosecuted.
Not going to apologize for saying this.

Fact Check:
Social media users are claiming that the LAFD chief was fired. One user wrote, “Karen Bass fired LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley just hours after Crowley said city leadership “failed” the fire department. However, Crowley has not been fired. She is currently facing calls to resign from various sides, according to The New York Times. One of the reasons is because of alleged mismanagement and being unprepared for the wildfires, the outlet reported.
The claim originates from a Daily Mail article. The article originally reported that Crowley was going to be fired in a meeting but updated its reporting to note that the mayor’s office denied it. It also reported that a source told the outlet, “[w]hen Crowley returned from the meeting, she told her office staff that she was ‘not fired yet,’ the source said on Friday evening.”
“The chief and I are in lock step. And if there are differences that we have, we will continue to deal with those in private,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a Jan. 11 press conference, per the NYT. (RELATED: Were All Charges Dismissed Against Andrew and Tristan Tate in November?)
