A video shared on X claims to show a Palestinian woman resisting an Israeli attempt to bulldoze her home.

Verdict: Misleading

The video appears to have been taken in Egypt, not Israel.

Fact Check:

Terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad handed over several hostages they took during their Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack on Israel, according to The New York Times. 100 Palestinian prisoners were exchanged for the hostages, per the outlet.

Social media users are claiming to show a Palestinian woman resisting Israeli attempts to bulldoze her house One user wrote, “Palestinian woman defends her home against Israeli bulldozer . Knowing how one of these ran over American activist Rachel Corrie this was harrowing to watch. I hope she lived.”

This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from December 2024 and unlikely unrelated to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. The video was uploaded to Instagram on Dec. 20, 2024 by an anti-Egyptian government account who claimed the video originated in Egypt.

Tal Hagin, a research fellow at FakeReporter, also debunked the claim. It appears the video originated from an anti-government Egyptian lawyer on TikTok, per Hagin. (RELATED: Did ICE Offer $750 To People Reporting Illegal Immigrants?)

“Based on the earliest reports from December, including the origins of the clip itself, this incident took place in Egypt and is unrelated to Palestinians or Israel,” reads part of Hagin’s tweet.
