A post shared on X claims the White House Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) found that the Pentagon spent $600 million on sushi.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence for this claim. The origin is from a satire account.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that DOGE found that the Pentagon spent $600 million on sushi, among other things. One user wrote, “There are no words to describe this, DOGE has found analyzing US Treasury Payments – The Pentagon spend $600 million a year on sushi – The IRS is spending $230,000 a month on Starbucks Cinnamon roast K-cups – $1,280 per little disposable plastic cup used to drink coffee from.”

There is no evidence for this claim. No media outlets have reported this. A wider internet search also did not yield any results for this claim. (RELATED: Viral X Video Does Not Authentically Show U.S. Military Vehicles Patrolling The Border)

Check Your Fact also reviewed DOGE’s X account and did not find any posts related to finding the Pentagon spent $600 million on sushi. Neither did a search of the Pentagon’s website yield any results for this claim.

The claim appears to originate from a satirical account that parodies Elon Musk. It is not from the actual Elon Musk account.
